And so the tour comes to a close. Tomorrow is the last day and we'll have to miss some of that if we're to get back to Mumbai in time for our flights back to England. It seems amazing to think that just over two weeks ago we were at home with everyone asking whether we would still come on tour. We've packed so much in and yet at the same time the idea of a whole tour being completed in two weeks is silly. None of us are ready to go home yet and the cricket is getting more interesting by the day.
If watching Sachin in Chennai was an honour then watching KP yesterday was similar. His switch-hits are moments of genius and to be here to witness them was something truly special. Sadly not nearly as many people are watching the game in Mohali as there were in Chennai so the atmosphere isn't the same but we're trying hard to do what we can.
Security has relaxed a bit over the few days here. We now get a wave from the man on the machine gun on our gate and it's amazing how easy you can disarm (metaphorically) the huge number of soldiers here with a smile and a hello.
So a quick word of thanks to everyone in India who has made us so welcome. We didn't want to trek up to Mohali as it's made the whole trip a logistical nightmare, but at least when we got here people made it worthwhile. And thanks to those of you who have taken the time to read this and respond – in answer to a couple of questions that you posed this wasn't my first tour. I've done many but never seen anything quite like the crowd in Chennai. And to those of you from Pakistan, I think everything should be done to tour the country and if England go there again I'll be visiting just as I did last time. For now though I'm just happy this went ahead and we could all enjoy some great cricket.
Glad you could make it here, Paul. You guys deserve all the goodwill you've earned and I'm happy you git to see some great cricket.
Take care and have a safe trip home.

It has been a really great series. More so when KP finally decided that he had better leave a mark in India. Thank you personally for having the guts and grace to come over and participate.

Yes Paul, unfortunately the tour ends tomorrow. It was a very short 2 test series but England made it a memorable one. Hats off to KP & his fine cricketers that Indians noticed the revival of the game and not cowed down by terrorists attack on Mumbai. Also it was extremely brave of you to follow the team as a fan and witness both the tests. England were in the game till the lunch time on the 4th day @ chennai and it was a superlative Indian batting that won the test for them.At Mohali England played well except its 3 star batsmen failed.ECB should be proud of what they did for Cricket by fulfilling their commitment under difficult mental conditions.KP & his team are true victors even for showing up and I am sure India greatfully acknowledges this. They have made themselves and Cricket proud by their mere participation and playing hard with intensity. For all fans it was too short a series but played in true spirit of Cricket.

Yeah i agree. The Chennai crowd is one of the best in the world. Most knowledgable, and unbiased. Of course, they would prefer an Indian win always! Not to mention Sachin's brilliance!

Paul, English team and the Barmy army has touched many hearts in India. Thanks for enjoying cricket with us - both during the good and the bad times.
I am gonna support England like a child when England take on "our arch-rivals" Aussies :)
I would have liked Indian team to have played good test cricket in Mohali - everyone deserves that instead of boring cricket. Atleast my hometown Chennai gave a winner!
Paul Winslow is the Barmy Army's web and magazine editor, a role that allows him to turn an unhealthy and expensive addiction into something vaguely productive. No-one is quite sure how he's managed to combine a career as a sport, travel and motoring journalist with so much travelling to watch cricket but he's blagged it somehow, although he will remain unfulfilled until 2012 when England tour Bangladesh and he will have seen them play in every Test nation.
