Important to keep momentum going

Ramnaresh Sarwan:

Hi Everyone,

Playing at home in Guyana for the first and second Digicel one-day internationals was great. Having the support of my country is always a good feeling and they always support West Indies and this time they came out in their numbers and offered their full support for the team.

On Sunday we were successful in putting what had happened in the first Digicel ODI on Friday behind us. Our body language on the field and the way we played proved that we were ready to take on the challenge at hand and win the game. We showed character and showed how much it meant for us to win.

We have an outstanding chance now in Barbados for the third and fourth ODIs once we continue to play the way we have been playing. On Sunday we were able to get back our momentum and so it is important for us to keep that going here in Barbados. The story will continue at 9:30 am on Friday, so we will just have to prepare ourselves as we have been doing for the past weeks.

To our fans, thank you for your continuous support, the team really appreciates it. You are who we play for and we will continue to make West Indies proud.

Stay tuned as I and some of the other West Indies cricketers keep you up to date through our diaries of the Digicel Series 2009.

Extremely adept at pummeling the opposition into submission, Chris Gayle is as cool and calm as opening batsmen come. He even goes by the nickname ‘Verucci’ – part Versace, part Gucci – because of his interest in fashion.

One of mainstays of the West Indian cricket team, Ramnaresh Sarwan is a technically accomplished batsman possessing a wide range of classy strokes.
He was appointed captain following the retirement of Brian Lara after the 2007 World Cup.
