I am not sure whether I should laugh at PCB or just be ashamed that the level of illiteracy has reached to this level in my home country (not anymore, so maybe I am overreacting). This should be adding insult to injury (literally) for Shoaib, who we all know is a one-trick pony lately. Even then, he did not deserve this leak of news. Can someone please tell me who the hell is responsible to make the decision of going public with the current medical condition of Shoib Akhtar. Often People tell a lot about their family backgrounds by the way they behave/handle issues in their professional lives ( Director HR, PCB i hope you will know what i am talking about).
This sort of information can be made public with only one thing in mind and that is to tarnish the image of Shoib and a pretty successful one i might add. i want to add that by doing so the responsible person has once again brought a bad name to a pakistani superstar and also Pakistan
i even could see the reaction in my office the moment i had entered. Each and every person in my office has now got his/her own joke about Shoib's condition.

Ya that surely is too much information. Anyways I feel shoaib akhtar is a burden on pcb now as he is never fit for a series or if he is fit he gets injured during the series. Not to mention his off the field blunders. I think it's time for him to retire.

King of controversy! A fitting mantle! It's Shoaib turn to decide whether he wants to sue PCB for what it is worth or would keep quite keeping a low profile. If history is a teacher it tells me that Shoaib is about to go on a rampage, unless as you mentioned his consent is in place for this one. It could be that some nincompoop in PCBs communication department without knowing what he was doing drafter this statement that was supposed to have been signed off by some departt head who barley glanced at it and gave it the nod. Now this departt head, staring at the barrel of the gun pointed at him and the possible load of shit about to hit the fan, is quacking in his shoes to come up with possible excuses. Perhaps ready to toss one or two of his subordinates in to the fire if necessary. PCB wronged Shoaib is what I say, and predict that it will be the mother of all circuses (Shoaib Vs. PCB should not have disclosed the illness because they have no moral authority. At the same time I am happy Shoaib was embarrassed because one day he will learn that being a star doesn't condone excess. Even though I am conservative I'm not going to judge his lifestyle. But its fair to say Shoaib's career and life is an example of why living that lifestyle causes more sadness than laughter.

Frankly speaking as much as this cricket crazy nation loves Shoaib,he has teased/disappionted his fans & lovers that much by becoming unfit at crucial times.Irrespective of his illness,anybody can be ill but to become non - available before an important event has become something of a routine.Apart from this ,he has staged so many a come backs from injuries/contrversies in a not too impressive way,even demoralising for the team at times. He should have preserved his fitness in a disciplined way in the best interest of the nation & cricket,being a national asset.Anyways its his life & style but he should think of his carrier now because he is not at his effective best. wish him best of health.

I am a doctor and I can say with full authority that shoaib can sue the PCB in the court, and can get damages worth millions of rupees. And,in fact he should, because its a very straight forward case of professional missconduct on the part of PCB and they should pay for it, especially to the person with whom they have done several injustices and never left any opportunity go by to take him to the court or to so called "disciplinary Commeties" on one pretext or the other.

This is totally disgraceful, from a so called professional body. It’s a cheap jab by the PCB, and it’s not on, somebody must be held accountable. Nobody has a right to no a players personal medical condition, let alone the entire cricketing world.

Shoaib has every right to sue the PCB if his medical condition has been made public without his consent.The doctors involved have behaved against the oath of medical ethics and should be accounted for.

This just speaks of whats wrong with our society. Every person considers her|himself as a moral policeman. Whatever Shoaib is in his personal life, he is a good cricketer on the ground. Herein lies the moral, society should stop asking celebrities/sportsmen to be role models. Its the parents responsibility to be role models for their kids and they should not point their figures on others for their own failures.

There is to much gap between the professionals and non professionals atitude in our countary and irony is that professionals work under non-professionals. Merit and Equal Opporntunities are practical non-existent in our society, sports and corporate sector. The release of his medical condition is obviously been done to embarass Shoaib and is shamefull by the board.If they no longer require him as a player just say so.We all know he has been difficult as a player but he has also done Pakistan a great srvice.He may not be an Imran,Wasim or Waqar in status but he had a god given talent and on his day he was breathtaking to watch.When he toured NZ he always performed and i remember him signing kids autograph books and talking to them unlike some of the prima donas we have had playing in our team.Comparisons with Brett Lee have been interesting.In terms of pace there is nothing in it but in terms of the fear factor Shoaib frightened more batsman with his lift and aggression.The only other bowler like that was Jeff Thomson who legend has was even quicker.These type of bowlers dont always make the record books for the right reason but there entertainment value cant be denide.If i was him i would sue the board and them all to get stuffed

Aside from the ethical dilemas at play here, and from my basic research on the subject, it's not the sort of thing that I would have thought would stop you from playing. Players have played with much more painful injury and illnesses.

This is a new low and believe that Shoeb's privacy has been compromised. In USA he can claim million's in damages. I wish we all learn a lesson.

Mr Abbassi, while agree with your post, may I ask you why you have spelt out his medical condition. You could have just mentioned 'Shoib's illness' instead of detailing this. Infact, I came to know about this only from your post and not from PCB. So, how's your behaviour different from that of PCB. Please enlighten.

The PCB doesn't usually leave me laughing in my corn flakes but on this occasion they managed to give me one of the best laughs I've had in ages. Laughing and joking aside, it's another demonstration that the PCB is unfit for purpose.

It is a shameful act on the part of PCB. They have no ethical grounds to defame such a great bowler. Shoaib has never been a role model in his conduct and he even never posed to be one.

What the PCB has done is beyond shameful. Shoaib's character may have its lapses but as the article suggests, the man deserves his basic privacy. Its very sad to see our cricket player humiliate a match winner like this.

This time PCB has gone beyond limit to hurt a reputation of a player. I'm sure they are not very happy with Shoaib but I still don't agree it was right thing for the board to disclose these details about a player. If you are not happy about a player simply don't select him but this is no way to treat someone. I personally think Shoaib should sue the board for embarassing him in front of world media and making a joke out of him.

I think PCB is trying to hard to make a name for itself. I believe that PCB needs to sit down and review the changes and news it is spreading or else Pakistan soon would be in the same level of management as of those unseccessful ones. I'm still shocked that with the unconsistency the Pakistan team has shown, PCB is not fighting hard to get players like Mohammad Yusuf, Abdul Razzak and Imran Nazir. I think PCB is not considering the present state of the team. It is too looking too ahead and missing out on getting the basics right. And the strtegy of humialting player seems to be the approach they seem to be adopting which may result in more unwanted grudges and politic between officials and players.

Let me ask you this Mr. Abbassi how is it not infringing a player's privacy when revealed that he will be out of cricket due to a knee/ankle or perhaps a groin injury? By your logic every injury a player suffers is part of his private medical records and thus should not be made public. i dont know where to put this across but i want kamran abbasi to write something about what happened at the closing ceremony of IPL. the way IPL management insulted Mr. Jacob Zuma. he was made to stand for 40 minutes there..some players dint event shake hid hand..and those who did were not even looking at him, instead they were busy greeting lalit modi while shaking hand with the President. what an insult!!! later lalit modi forgot to call on jacob zuma to deliver the cheque and he was then sheepishly invited to place his hand alongside the cheque that was already delivered. im surprised that no one has brought this issue up...especially the indians who made a big issue when sharad pawar was pushed aside by ricky ponting a few years back at the world cup closing ceremony.

Sure the PCB has revealed too much...it seems to be malicious...and surprisingly Shoaib hasn't reacted till now...This again shows how unprofessional people in the PCB are. Whatever antics Shoaib Akhtar has been up to all these years...he is a Pak Test player and deserves basic respect.It seems someone wanted revenge and has hit Shoaib below the belt !!

I think if he had torn a calf ligament, no one including Kamran would have objected if the precise location of the damaged ligament and the extent of its damage had been published. The issue is not the reporting of a sportman's injury but the reporting of this particular injury, which is particularly sensitive. Was anything achieved with all the detail provided? No, so it would have been sensible if the PCB had been discrete. But being sensible and PCB don't go hand in hand.

I am from India and am a huge fan of Shoib (not when playing against India)...He's been such a wasted talent...of course, he himself has to be blamed for most of that...

But this is unbelievable stuff from PCB. I hope and urge Shoaib to sue PCB...have them apologize publicly and pay him millions of $s in damages...

What PCB has done is called "TRUTH" and no one can hold PCB responsible for either Shoaib getting the disgraceful wart or publicizing the truth which people of this great country deserve. Asslamu Alikum all, I am totally bemused at the PCB what sort of organisation gives out specific information to the media, and especially information like genital warts, the PCB is ovioulsy run by people who have no idea on cricket, they wanted Shaoib out and they have got thier wish, the rawalpindi express may have been a little lackluster in the past few months and but in the past he has played well for Pakistan and did make some batsmen afraid of pak fast bowlers and helped continue the long line of pakistani fast bowlers for us in the UK he did make us proud like in the 05 home tests and ODI's against England he destoryed them in the 1st and 3rd test and also in the one days, does anyone remember that?????well done for the past Shoaib but you must agree in the past 2 yaers things for you have been awful you missed the inagural 20/20 for hitting Asif( where is he now???) and now you have genital warts, I am a huge fan of your skill, you played well but wasted your talent, good luck

The PCB and Shoaib deserve each other. The people of Pakistan deserve neither. The Cricket people of Pakistan, that is.

Yesterday i was watching an old video of Shoaib when he bowled Dravid and Tendulkar on successive balls. At what height he was at that point and at what depths he is now. It brings tears in my eyes when i think that a very rare amazing talent has been destroyed who could be a great great bowler in Cricket. One think is for sure and that's the lesson every one must learn that whether one has talent or not is important but the most most important thing is that one must have CHARACTER.

No question that Shoaib did not play up to his full potential. He was however, the one guy that you actually came to see bowl. And when he was on it was all fury.
His personal lifestyle is his own business. This is obviously a case where the board or someone on teh board wanted to and willfully embarrased Shoaib. If you don't want him on teh team, say so and drop him from consideration.

Perhaps the PCB is jealous, they don't like Shoaib, but his skills (when they work) are instrumental to Pakistan. They want to kill his chances (on the cricket field and the night clubs) by releasing private information and are using it to justify giving him the boot. This makes the PCB look very malicious or extremely stupid; either way they need an overhaul in their management and media representatives.

Once the dust (and the sniggering) settles the PCB should hang its head in shame! Even Shoaib deserves privacy, confidentiality and fair play. By exposing his medical condition to all and sundry the PCB has displayed utmost arrogance or extreme stupidity perhaps both. If Shoaib has any sense he should sue the PCB and the so-called medical board consisting of a surgeon, dermatologist and a sports doctor no less. This is outrageous!

Shoaib is now a huff and puff speed merchant who will struggle to bowl a single over at a stretch. A potential legend quickie with a very near throw action, he has wasted his talent due to his own stupidity. He can now take over the role of a FITNBSS CONSULTANT......

I am watching cricket since my childhood.I have seen players like Asif Iqbal ,Mushtaq,Zaheer Abbass,Imran,Asif Masood

the fast bowler playing and hundereds of matches inside Pakistan & outside Pakistan & so many others.I have never

seen any thing like Mr Shoaib Actor ,I think he is the most insane ,loose temper,unspeakble,disgusting and

direspectful person to his team mates ,board & what was left the nation.He has disrespected lot of great crickters

of this era & as well as last era.Starting from Intikhab Alam,Miandad,Inzi,Jawardenay in Sharjah I was there,Saurav

Ganguly,and many more .The beauty of his personality is that he does not even regret .

All these players have great names no scratches on their careers but look at him what a disgraced career to him as

troubles are invited by him .He wants to be in the lime light all the time .

The guy is an embarrassment to himself, and has never failed to show this in his behaviour. Sorry but I cannot feel sorry for this loser.
