I'll see you next time

Posted by Iain O'Brien on 03/08/2009 in India in New Zealand 2008-09

I know you’ve become used to my reasonable level of quickness to get these blogs written and posted; sometimes though it’s just not possible.

I just have not had the time to get anything down since the last game in Wellington. I will though, of course, cover it off in my next post after this third match in Christchurch. Sometimes life just gets in the way of a good story, and at the moment there are a couple of things that have to take precedent over getting the blog done. No apologies, it just hasn’t been possible.

Ian, I and the rest of New Zealand are appalled at your efforts the other day. We had to put up with some poor kid screaming for you or Vittori to give him a wave and he got nothing, I mean he even tried to get Ruds to give him one. Well done with that batting by the way :) Good luck!

No worries. Looking forward to your next post.
Say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TAYLOR from me.

Hey Ian

Ouch.... that must have hurt (393 by us ... no offence mate)

anyways, just wanted to know ur opinions as to how much you think danny boy's presence in the 3rd odi would have restricted india, how much would have their score been according to you?

also, what were your & other kiwi's thoughts seeing sachin bat ? do you think he would have reached 200??

anyways take care mate..... been waiting with a bated breath for your comments on the 3rd game;)

Hey guys .. particularly Indians out there ... I am an Indian and reading the comments posted by some Indians are so egoistic. MODESTY IS A VIRTUE guys . Dont forget. Being victorious is great but being modest is graceful

Hey I missed you at Chch yesterday. Me and my mates were all shouting out "WHERE'S O'BLOG? he's not playing?!" when the team rang onto the field. All the best for next game _b

Hi Iain,
I'll be honest with you. Before the series began I thought this would be a pretty dull series as I felt that the NZ players lacked spunk. But boy, do you have a major NZ fan in India now. Results aside, blown away with the play of you guys. Awesome.I'll make an outside projection - an India - NZ T20 final in England this year. PS - Be sure to have Mills, Butler and Southee in your team and all the nest for this series

Well, your blog's been a privilege... Amazing how much enthusiasm you have and thanks a lot for sharing your experience on and off the field.
BTW, I hope in the next couple of games and the test series you guys are gonna put up some good fight and run them close. 392 was a hiding! Wished you were bowling there instead of Jeets or Timmy.

When it rains it pours. Best plans and hawk eye analysis, I wonder which was done before the 3rd odi.

Hey Iain not sure why you weren't playing in chch on Sunday? I missed most of the 1st innings on tv as me and my mates were out at the beach in Nelson, anyway keep up the good work, hope your playing tomorrow! Cya

Hi Iain,

I was at the game on Sunday, absolutely loved having summer back and some cricket in Christchurch. It's a real shame that we don't get any of the tests in Christchurch.

As for the game, we were really treated to some amazing batting. I was there with 6 mates and we all remarked about how lucky we were to see one of the world's most famous sportsmen in Sachin Tendulkar put on a show. I also thought that Jesse Ryder and McCullum's innings were brilliant and that you guys didn't expect the Indian's fielding to improve as it did in all of the runouts.

I am really dissapointed that Southee has been dropped, it is a really bad way to knock a guy's confidence and this is the second time that this has happened to him. I am looking forward to seeing him coming back in the tests.

All the best for the 4th ODI and looking forward to seeing you back out at the bowling crease.

P.s my cousin Shaun kept wickets for you in a showcase match in Invercargill 12 months ago.

Iain,

Good to read your blogs...the public are so used to the standard comments from players at press conferences (which almost sound like some recorded message because of the number of times it is repeated)a bit of a change (your blogs) is very interesting. Ignore the abuse and give us your comments no matter what result. Just for records...Go India!!!

Iain O'Brien must type as fast as he bowls. After stumps most days he adds to his popular personal blog, covering his take on the play, dressing room snippets and personal insights (he really doesn’t like bouncers). A fast-medium bowler, O’Brien has become a regular member of the New Zealand Test side over the past year and is enjoying his time at the top.
