Nottinghamshire have released Gareth Clough after nine seasons at the club. Clough will focus on studying a degree in sports and exercise science and said he would be keeping his options open as to the future.
..I haven..t ruled out playing county cricket elsewhere next season but personal training and fitness coaching also interests me,. he said. ..I..ve enjoyed a lot of good times with Notts and the Twenty20 Finals day at Trent Bridge (in 2006) stands out as the highlight..
Notts.. director of cricket Mick Newell granted Clough an early release to allow him to concentrate on his degree. ..Gareth has done very well for us in limited over cricket and he played a part in a dramatic improvement in our performances in the one day competitions,. said Newell. ..He..s at an age where second team cricket would be of no benefit to him but with the expansion on Twenty20, there could well be a county out there that needs a specialist like Gareth..
