Shaun Udal has revealed that he almost swapped allegiances to Ireland
before he got a belated chance to resume his international career with England. Udal thought his England days were over so last summer sent an email to the Irish to see if he could play for them in the 2007 World Cup. Udal’s mother Mary is from near Dublin, so qualification would not have been a problem. But the Irish did not respond and then came the call to go to Pakistan with England. Talk about luck of the Irish.
