Canada should not be given oppotunity to host any tournament. I remember in 2001 when they organized the ICC Trophy, there were similar visa problems. It's sad that ICC is promoting a country where all cricketers are not allowed to play.

it is rubbish that the afghanistan cricket board can not provide the right visaes for the player they have been waiting for this tournament for so long and now they can not play. they need to improve it for the future

It is very unfortunate that such a talented side will miss the event. Afghanistan have proved that they can do their best with very little resources.

Their senior side beat Holland in the 4 day match and a ODI match.

I hope they will be able to make it.

Sierra Leone has joined Afghanistan on the sidelines.

Would it not be possible for the ICC to apply for visas for players en bloc once they knew which countries were being represented? It would cut out a lot of the confusion and the countries' individual cricket associations could then each be beholden to the ICC. Just an idea. Sierra Leone should take up their conncerns with Canada at Commonwealth level. It is most unfortunate that nations that are trying to make their way in the world of cricket are being confronted by so many hoops to jump through.

Afghanistan is back...!!!

Why should Sierra Leone forfeit a match when it was not their fault that they were denied visas. The young boys earned their way to Canada now they have been deprived of an opportunity to qualify for the world cup. Africa was entitled to two represnetative, now only Uganda will have a chance of qualifying. It is really sad. The young multi-talented SL boys will now abandon cricket in disappointment and turn to football, althletic or other sports. As a former Vice President of the SL Cricket Association, we fought very hard to keep the game alive. Canada by its actions would now most certainly have put the final nail in its coffin.
