The United Arab Emirates will host the ICC World Twenty20 2010 Qualifier later this year. The event, which is currently scheduled to take place in late October, will also be expanded from its previous staging, in Ireland in 2008.
In addition to featuring the six Associate and Affiliate teams with ODI status - Ireland, Canada, Kenya, the Netherlands, Afghanistan and Scotland - it will also include the host team and the United States of America (USA).
The top two sides from the tournament will go forward to join the 10 ICC Full Members in next year's main event, set to take place in the West Indies in April and May at three locations - Barbados, Guyana and St Lucia.
These decisions were made by the ICC Development Committee, which has been meeting this week in Dubai.
"I am thrilled that the ICC Development Committee has again taken an expansive and innovative approach to promoting our great sport by inviting the UAE and USA to join the top six Associate and Affiliate teams at the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier later this year," said ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat. "The committee has given the chance for the top six Associate and Affiliate teams to qualify for the ICC World Twenty20, something they had the chance to do in the equivalent event in Ireland last year, while, at the same time, creating two additional invitational slots for this event."

This is great news for Afghanistan Cricket Team, having played the Twenty20 format over the years, i hope they can make it to the top two to play the world cup next year,
However i am not totally impressed with the inclusion of USA and UAE, they are getting there without any competition, the other teams have had to work so hard and go through certain stages to reach there, do u think its fair enough to give free inclusion to other teams?

Hey Brother Bismillah:
Don't worry about who is getting free or non-competitive admission. Just be thrilled about the recent performance of Afghanistan in Cricket. This is not and shouldn't be the first stage for them Afghans have the built-in hard working blood in them. They are a warrior nation, that means they can fight bravely in any battle as well as they can give very hard competition to any one in any encounter. I see a very bright future for the Afghans. The Afghan cricket team has the stamina, fighting spirit, and they posses high morale the only thing they need to master is in consistency of their batting, bowling and fielding. Learn new techniques form the legends. One such great has been coaching their team as well, The Great Javed Miandad. If the Afghans got the proper coaching they can master in all fields and one day knock on the doors of Test Cricket and beyond.. Good Luck.. A well Wisher from Pakistan.

In the expanded format, the number of teams playing the tournament increased from 6 to 8. UAE being the host will be one of the otheer two countries but on what parameters was USA given an opportunity (ahead of Namibia) to play in the Qualifiers?

let see if they are selected in this team I think they will be making some records in the books.
