Regardless of what happens at next month's World Cup Qualifiers (WCQs), Afghanistan will play against at least of two of Asia's Test nations in 2010, when cricket makes its debut the South Asian Games next year in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The matches, to be played according to the Twenty20 format, will be contested by under-21 teams from Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Asian Cricket Council chief executive, Syed Ashraful Huq, said the Twenty20 format would surely help "the developing countries put up a good show". "Twenty20 is a great leveller and should Afghanistan, Bhutan and Maldives and Nepal come up against the ODI countries, the matches should be quite competitive," Huq said.
Nepal have beaten Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa in Under-19 World Cups.
Cricket will also debut at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China from November 11-27, 2010 and will be played in the Twenty20 format as well. Asia's non-Test countries will contest the qualifying event for that tournament, the ACC Twenty20 Cup 2009, in the United Arab Emirates from November 4-13, 2009.

I thank Afghaistan players are more comfortable in playing Twenty20 format games and with cricket already boosting so much in Afghanistan. The future seems to be very bright for Afghan Cricket both in ODI and Twenty20 and the day is also not for that Afghanistan will play Test matches as well!

it is nice but there must by something special for afghanistan national cricket team as they achieved division one < two, and three so how they can equal them with bhuthan and other asian contries they must play and have some special format for afghanitsan cricket team to contest at next comming asia cup because they beat hong kong many time so how can afghanitan out of next asia cup in indian
they must think about this and to give afghaniatan more chances then other aisian contries to compete against the test nation like indian sri lank pakistan and bangladesh that the fan of cricket will have close matches pleas think about it if you are realy working for the development of the cricket at asia

I am very much pleased getting information on new developments related to Afghan cricket team,they are the real struggler they stand on their aim firmly they won almost all the matches from division 5 till the moment thats why they must be given all the opportunities(good support,enough salary)for their more successes.

i 100% beleive that Afghanistan cricket team will inshallh qualify to the 2011 WC bcoz they r so talented and the have much more skills, they need some support from the afghan government, it was really our dream but inhshallah our guys will make true. ofter qualifiying my big dream is to beat Pakistan

First of all congratulation to all Afghans brothers and sisters who are inside or out side the country, because Afghanistan Cricket Team did tremendous performance in last couple of series, its all about Afghans pray and best regards, I would like to request from all Afghans to pray for their team in World Cup Qualifier Round, that our dream become true and we qualify to World Cup, As i know better about my team, so i can surely say that if our team qualify to World Cup, we can better fight with Pakistan and India.and Inshallah our team will win this World Cup 2011.and the Champion of South Asian game will be Afghan Team.
