Canada win Under-15 Americas Cricket Championship

Posted on 08/09/2008 in ICC Americas

Canada have won the Under-15 Americas Cricket Championship in Bermuda after completing the tournament with an unbeaten record.

Canada were run closest by Bermuda who reduced them to 85 for 6 chasing 168 in their penultimate match, but an unbeaten 44 from Bryan Henry ensured they squeezed home with three balls in hand.

“Grassroots development through talent identification and development programs instituted in the winter of 2007-2008, helped put together a strong team which has taken Canada to this pinnacle and promises to be an indicator of things to come for Canadian cricket,” Atul Ahuja, Cricket Canada’s chief executive, told Cricinfo.

“Cricket Canada has a stated goal to win the Under-19 World Cup that Canada will host in 2012. Many players that were part of the winning team today could well be part of that squad. Programs are being put in place to develop this talent pool to help Canada achieve this goal.”

the u.s. team deserves a lot of credit with only 4 batters and very poor fast bowling they were destined for the result that they got. US cricket will on progress when hand picking by the USACA president, horrible selectors and poor coaching stops. At this age group development of your best talent is what should be done such as Canada and Bermuda has done. Dainty and the coach hand picked unqualified player based on the trials. The selectors were biased for their regions' players. The coach umpired one of the games not even seeing the other game on the Friday at the trials and the other selector anchored himself to that same match. Dainty reduced the other two matches to 20/20 which messed all the players up from the intended longer version of the game.
This long continued practice, led by Dictator Dainty must stop if US cricket is to develop.

i would just say that i am proud on Canada's U-15 couach who choose the best team to play in the Amarica cup and the players who played there roles in the Amarica cup from Canada. Cricket in Canada would soon be played like its been playing in India, Australia and Pakistan.

I would just say that i am proud on Canada's U-15 coach who choose the best team to play in the Amarica cup and the players who played there main and important roles in the Amarica cup. Hopping that the cricket in Canada would soon be played like its been playing in India, Australia and Pakistan.
