Waste of tournament and waste of money.

The recent Twenty20 competition was an excellent oppourtunity for cricket in Canada but it was unfortunate that the weather didn't cooperate. The time of year was a bad choice as early May has never been dependable at the best of times. In the future it would be advisable to stage an event like this at a latter date allowing the grounds keepers a little more time to prepare and the weather to stabilize.

It's not waste of money, for year's to come cricket will be very popular in Canada and our national team will be very strong team to beat with the help of Sri Lankan cricket board.

I feel Canada has what it takes to go to the next level. With a little bit of aid from the Goverment we can play Test cricket.We have plenty of grounds in Cannada that can be upgraded to the next level. The players can be paid better. If teams like Canada and Ireland can play Test cricket we can see more games from May to September a phase where only England plays Test cricket. That will make make cricket a globel sport because there will be three teams hosting and may be two teams each touring , so six in total. So plenty to choose for the fans. If only ICC take more interest with some of the richer boards like the BCCI? we will have at least 15 Test teams .

I believe that Canada do have what it takes but they need another player like John Davison though. Also I think we could have more than 15 Test teams. Namibia could be one of them because they have some good players, Gerrie Snyman for example he is a great allrounder who has even smashed almost 200 in a one day game. his first class record is good too. But Canada i think need to continue to do good at intercontinental cup level because i think there a bit patchy with their form.

It is great to see the game expanding. And it is great to see nations such as Canada warming to it. But i think sides like Canada are still a long way off Test cricket. They are improving and that is what they have to continue to do to make test cricket. But Canada and the other nations competing in the intercontinental cup still lack the infrastructure and the tallent to go all the way. While another John Davison, Gerrie Snyman or Ryan Ten Doeschate would be great for those individual nations it isn't the answer to financial problems, governing issues and ground issues.
But back to the positives, well done and congratulations to Canada. This is a really positive step forward, despite the weather, and I hope to see it repeated in the future.

I would love to see Canada progress in cricket but who are we kidding?

We don't have any cricket stadiums, nor the local population has any interest in it. Only a couple of thousand (mainly immigrants) citizens who are interested in cricket.

Besides, the weather in Canada is a huge natural obstacle. The only months in which cricket can be played in Canada are late May, June, July, August, September. How on Earth are our players suppose to train year-round?

Finally, you can't have your players playing without proper salaries and a full-time, well paid, recognized coach. They need financial support too which at the moment is lacking. First pay the cricketers so they can 100% put their efforts behind cricket, not in odd-jobs.

I played for team Nova Scotia in this tournament, and while the tournament itself is a great way to promote the game here, I MUST say that it was handled very atrociously. The rain interrupted day 2 of the tournament, and the semi finalists were announced through ridiculous circumstances.

The international rules state that a minimum of 5 overs must be bowled in the 2nd innings before the match can be decided on D/L method, and this did not happen for any match for 3 of the 4 quarter finals, and for our quarter final against Ontario A, we were not even given the D/L target after our innings was reduced to 5 overs so we didn't even know how much we had to make. This was the saddest event in the history of cricket anywhere.

well done n cogradulations to canadian cricket, dispite what any of the knockers say, i think its ovious that cricket in canada is heading some where, im 37 n am a passionate follower of international cricket specialy australian n canadian cricket, i think these are the most exciting times i seen in world cricket, kenyas been around the ODIs for a while now but to see nations like canada ireland scotland coming on n even the netherlands n namibia it is very exciting times in world cricket! with some more financal support i think 16 test playing nations could be posible n exciting. or heres an idea to slowly but steadly introduce these teams to test cricket n it is only an idea, but would give these nations a taste of the expearance required n that is to introduce a level known as semi test status where as these teams would still play each other in 4day cricket for the intercontinental cup at 1st class level but every know n again allow these teams to play a bangladesh or (continued)

CCA showed how good they are when it comes to staging a major tournament. Early May?? I mean what on earth were the administrators thinking? Cricket could have got an excellent exposure in Canadian media, but as long as irrational people are running the board, no major tournament would ever be successful in Canada.
