The number of extras, especially in the form wides and no balls, contributed by the young players of the emerging cricketing nations is alarming. Such indisciplined bowling points at the lack of proper training, that the bowlers of non-Test playing nations are known to suffer from constantly. The ICC should be more pro-active in utilizing qualified coaches for imbibing in such cricketers a keen sense of adhering to the basics. Implementation of merely reactive measures as awarding free hits to the batsman for each overstepped delivery is definitely not enough to curb bowler’s extras.
