The United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) has been re-recognised as an Associate member of the ICC following their suspension in March 2007.
The USACA held their elections at the weekend when Gladstone Dainty - despite facing strong criticism over the past few years - was re-elected president, beating off the favourite, Ram Varadarajan, who was widely tipped for the post. The elections were a last-gasp effort for American cricket; without a formal constitution in place, the ICC would have had no other choice than to continue their suspension. With that particular condition met, the ICC's president, Ray Mali, was pleased to welcome the board back as an Associate member.

I'm sorry but this is seriously embarrassing. USA Cricket Association back in ICC fold just to get banned yet again, since Dainty has been elected again as its leader. Dainty had a major role in selecting U19 players who had never performed in the nationals, and even better, he selected players who weren't good enough to represent even their regional teams!!! Imagine an U19 national team filled with many players who did not perform at the nationals and a few who weren't even on the regional squads. They left out players who performed extremely well at both U19 nationals for players who were not even on playing XI in the same tournaments. And, we all are aware of the senior national squad made up of "over the hill" (age 35+) players. I know this is a whole different topic, however, I decided to point this out because this happened under Dainty's leadership and I won't be surprised if this happens again to many young and talented players.
