Malaysia to host ACC Trophy

Posted on 04/16/2008 in ACC news

The Asian Cricket Council has confirmed Malaysia as the venue for the 2008 ACC Trophy Elite Division. The 10-team tournament will be held from July 25 to August 3, with all matches likely to be staged in Kuala Lumpur.

It was also confirmed the ACC Trophy will be held as two separate tournaments for the first time.

The ACC Trophy Elite tournament will be contested by the top 10 ranked ACC members: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the holders, the United Arab Emirates.

The ACC Trophy Challenge for the remaining ACC members is likely to be staged in Kuwait from January 11-17, 2009. Among the invitees are Bhutan, Brunei, Burma, China, Iran, the Maldives, Oman and Thailand, although it remains to be seen whether China fields a team.

Oman in second division when competing in the WCL division 1, strange?

Oman's performance over last 2-3 yrs is very low based on which the ACC rankings are made. But they somehow keep winning in WCL to make it to top divisions...

not much importances of acc trophy for the players if you perform there is nothing money for aplayer even no value of the matches nobpdy conceder list a games or first class game does not matter if you perform or not acc should think about the value of cricket in asia and the value of player and ther is no record for this trophy so good player will not participate and they trying to ignore this trophy this is just a suggesstion to just think about the players also if you spend time and so much staff who are work for the acc and there are lots of money also and why you not doing little proffessional way and put some money for the players as well and player will turn up.by the way i all ready played three acc trophies which si not more interest so if good player will not play this trophy than standered of your cricket come down which is not good for acc new teams as well.

Its totally unfair ACC to send back the UAE team on basis of players not holding UAE Passports then what abt Kuwait ? do they hold Kuwaiti Passports ? Of course not and being a Kuwaiti cricketer I think its high time for ICC and ACC to promote only Nationals to represent their countries and hopefully the days are not long
