Three days have passed since the extended deadline expired on voting to approve the new USA Cricket Association constitution. We were promised a result on December 27 but Chris Dehring, the independent third party overseeing the process, agreed to a four-day extension after claims that some voting forms were sent out late.
The hope was that the dawning of a new era would mean an end to the USACA’s dismissive approach to stakeholders and the media. Sadly, the deadline has come and gone and the USACA remains silent. Let’s hope this is not a sign of things to come, but it’s not a promising start.
Did we expect anything else? what has USA Cricket done in the past that makes us believe things would be different.
The burning question for me is; Who the hell died and put these guys in charge? how are they the last word on Cricket in America?
I don't have an answer for you, but perhaps lobbying the ICC may be a start. If you make enough noise(to the ICC), permission may be given to start a U.S.A. cricket association, I don't know the exact circumstances, but it sounds like the good 'ole U.S. of A. is unwilling to join a sporting body that they are not in control of & not extremely compeditive at - just like anything else. Perhaps they just don't understand the game or feel "a game just takes to darn long". Regards G.C.
Things definitely don’t sound good for US cricket. Not many ICC Associate nations have fared well enough to qualify for an ICC Champions Trophy, as the USA did for the 2004 edition of the ‘mini world cup’. But since then, US cricket has made little news—definitely not regarding a positive development. It is strange that cricket administration is an odd man out in USA, which is generally characterized by efficiency and professionalism.
