The Chinese government is going to revamp the stadium; Kasarani sports complex there is enough room in the complex to house a cricket ground. It would certainly help raise the profile of the game, and would give Cricket Kenya another venue in which to host Internationals. Kenya is certainly in need of a ground with decent lighting, and this could be the perfect opportunity. With major cricket events to be held in Kenya over the coming years, and the definite possibility of more in the future, this would certainly be a worthwhile investment. Technical assistance from the ICC could probably even be arranged in the current climate of global expansion. Maybe Cricket Kenya should lobby the government before the plans are finalised.

EDITORIAL REPLY No example of any journalism based on anything but fact was provided with this mail. The reports of the NPCA have been rubbished by those within the NPCA but to date all the claims made against the NPCA have turned out to be 100% accurate.

Richard Mwangi is a lovely fellow but has no real understanding of cricket. 10 years ago he was writing similar articles in the papers sniping at different people as the puppeteers pulled his strings. Kenya needs stability now more than ever and Kenyan cricket needs to come behind those officails who are seriosuly putting the sport and its players above their own positions. Sharad Ghai and his cronies ended up with many millions of shillings which should have helped the grassroots development of the game and paid the senior players too. This is a reported fact in the Nation it'self. It is an absolute tragedy that there are still the same rediculous political games being played now ten years on. What a great waste. As I said, I liked Richard Mwangi. I hope that he will have the courage to pen accurate and rounded stories and not ones with limited infomraiton that distort the true position. Is The Nation good enough to crowned ‘the mainstream newspapers’— definitely not grammatically. What has the rest of the Kenyan journalistic media got to say about present state of cricket in Kenya. Cricket Kenya should develop venues for the National league. It is also an important step to gain Test Status; one requirement is to have accredited venues in at least two separate centers. The NPCA have the best one’s (Nairobi Gymkhana, Nairobi Jaffrey’s and Ruaraka club.) The government is building a cricket ground at Kasarani sports complex with floodlights. Any two of the above venues can be developed for tests. The CCA have venues like (Mombasa Jeffery’s floodlights have been installed and Mombasa Sports Club. The later fulfils parameters of a test venue. RVCA has (Rift Valley Sports Club, Nakuru Athletic and Greensteds School). Any one can be developed into an ODI venue. Centrals has Peponi School Limuru Country Club- (in central province area has a nice Pitch) and Thika Sports Club this was a cricket ground. Cricket was played here in 1980s, and when it died rugby took over- until that to died. These venues can be developed to first class level and used in National league games
