Peru hosts Twenty20 tournament

Posted on 11/12/2007 in Peru

An ICC Level 1 Coaching Course was held in Lima from October 22 to 27 and was followed by a Level 1 Umpiring Course from November 3 to 11. The charms of Lima, including a wonderful and historic club for such events in Lima Cricket & Football Club, good hotels at low prices, rain free weather and a central position in South America, make this city an ideal venue for such events. The second Cricket Veloz, a Twenty20 competition fought out by four clubs, LCFC, the Kiteflyers, the Eidgenossen and the Indians, will take place on November 18 at Markham College, Miraflores.

Cricket is yet to set its foot in South America. Reading the comments from American locals for the new 5000 seater cricket stadium ....I guess ICC is spending lot of money for USA....where there is no scope of development for cricket(among locals).

So. divert funds to South America where people are more friendly.Invest rather on China, Mongolia, Korea, Russia, Indonesia and make cricket ASIAN game.

United States will then follow Cricket like what happened in football. Make cricket global. Reach New areas where countries are yet to win global competition in any form of games ...(reason behind this is) people would be hungry.

Coaching and umpiring training will certainly do a world of good to cricket in Peru.

It is good Peru is hosting a domestic Twenty20 tournament. This format of instant cricket is ideal for the local cricketers who are likely to be amateurs. This format of entertaining cricket is also ideal for local spectators who can develop an enthusiastic following for the game.

Systematic administration for scientific development of the game in the country holds the key to cricket giving football a run for its money in this Andean nation.
