In spite of cricket being touted as ‘a game of glorious uncertainties’, Bermuda never really had a chance of making it through to the Super-Eights of the ICC World Cup 2007, with the likes of India and Sri Lanka pitted against them in the group league stage. And with the other team in the group, Bangladesh on a high after defeating India, Bermuda was never really had a scope to benefit India by inflicting a crushing defeat on the Bengalis. And, so was it; with the Bangladeshi hurricane reducing Bermuda to a damp squib, the only mystery that remained about Bermuda was how they qualified for the international cricket’s premiere event.

Bermuda’s performance in the ICC Intercontinental Cup has been forgettable—two innings-defeats in four matches, and a shade small defeat margins in the remaining matches. When none other than the burly tweaker, Dwane Leverock seems good enough even for a county club berth, the future of Bermuda cricket remains shrouded in mystery like the Bermuda Triangle.

The ICC should come up to Bermuda’s rescue by appointing someone like Sir Vivian Richards to develop an enthusiastic cricketing culture in the country. If Sir Vivian can enthuse the Chinese into vowing to graduate to the World Cup by 2020, Bermuda is still mush better off.

Bermuda's administrators have too much money and no common sense. They all have hidden agendas and are self serving. Those who can do a difference cannot get into the "club".
