The ICC today confirmed that it had approved a quadrangular Twenty20 tournament being played in Kenya and afforded Twenty20 International status to all the games involving teams that currently enjoy One-Day International status.
The tournament runs from September 1-4 in Nairobi and includes the national teams from Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Under current ICC regulations, all ten Full Members plus the top six Associate Members are entitled to play ODIs and, by extension, Twenty20 internationals.
As such, all matches between Kenya, Pakistan and Bangladesh have been classed as official Twenty20s while the matches involving Uganda, which is not currently one of the top six Associates, are not.
In the six-match tournament each team plays three matches with Kenya, Pakistan and Bangladesh using it as preparation for the Twenty20 Championship which runs in South Africa from September 11-24.

I think it's a great move by ICC and ths will promote Cricket to the next step and will encourage youngsters to participate in a Gentlemen's Game.

too bad Afridi's innings will not count against Uganda. But still we'll see how good he is when we se him play against some better opposition.

Yes I want to comment on Uganda Status.Why are the ICC is not giving International status to matches played by Uganda.

Good to know this is official competition. I am very grateful to cricinfo for providing scorecards and bulletin of each of the matches. We Kenyans cannot expect much from local press here. For example today Bangladesh is playing Uganda and hosts Kenya are playing Pakistan. There is NOT a word written about today's matches in today's edition of two leading daily newspapers in Kenya. How can Kenya cricket develop without publicity, encouragement to the team and information to local fans?

its been great to know that the tournament in Kenya has got official status by the ICC. Not only for Pakistan and Bangladesh (both has permanent membership) but special for the development of cricket in Kenya, its essential to have such events over there.

They should have more games involving the African nations to make them more competitive and to improve the standard of their games, also encourage the better teams to play them

This piece may be out of context but would be grateful if published. This is the only forum available to Kenyan fans to comment or break the news. Nobody in Kenya, except those few present at the venue, are aware that every man-of-the-match awards won by Pakistanis and Bangladeshis were passed over to Uganda for their outstanding performances. This included man-of-the-serier dollars 1500 won by a Pakitan player, was passed over to Uganda. What gestures? Well done. Watching final game Pakitan-Kenya, I took it as a comedy show and enjoyed it. I have never seen Younis Khan bowling, but he came on earlier and took three wickets. Kenya's two leading players - Thomas Odoyo did not bowl and Steve Tikolo did not play. Both have injuries. Then, why the hell they should go to South Africa for 20-20?

well i think that's a very good move by ICC to approve the 20/20 matches between Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kenya as internationals but i also think it should give this status to the full tournament including Uganda as well

I have a big worry of the performance of Kenya.At times, it was a dream for Bangladesh to beat Kenya.Now things are quite adverse.What actually happened to Kenya???

For Cricket Globalization , ICC need many more team to approve only International Twenty20 Status. Like-- Uganda, ireland, Holand, Canada, Malysia, Namibia, UAE, Hongkong, Nepal, Scotland as early as possible
