Ian Billcliff has become the second Canada player to withdraw from the Intercontinental Cup final against Ireland. He was unable to obtain leave from his job, and will be replaced by Sundeep Jyoti for the tie at Grace Road, Leicesteshire, which starts on May 22.
His absence is a blow – he scored a century in the the group matches. Ashish Patel also had to withdraw through work commitments and was replaced by Henry Osinde.

This is yet another reason why Canadian govt. and ICC need to fund cricket further and create professional payroll systems, facilities, etc. so we can really have a chance of becoming a test playing nation.

Mr Ali Khan I'm sorry to say that if they are gave funds to Canadian Cricket Assocation what will happend? They will forget young upcoming players and they will take all 40 years old to the next World Cup. Wake up Mr Ali Khan.

Though Ian will be greatly missed, but Sandeep is good enough player to fill any position in the national team. His record might not suggest that at the moment, but he, most certainly, has what it takes to deliver results!

I agree with the Ali that Canadian govt needs to inject more funds to develop cricket in Canada but at the same time, the CCA needs to give its youth more oppotunities. Having players who are well into their 30s and 40s is not going to do any good for the team. There are so many young players playing in different leagues all over Canada. I'm sure they can find 11 YOUNG players who are just as good or even better than these current oldies. No disrespect to the current players but the only way Canadian cricket is going to develop is by inclusion of young players. they need to be trained and guided from early age in order to complete with the big boys of this game.
