If the Chinese Cricket Association's development plans are even half successful, it is only a matter of decades before the cricket world could be looking at the new giants of the game, The Age reports.
The Chinese Cricket Association is hoping that by the end of 2007 China would have 30,000 players, 600 coaches and 600 umpires. Their target is for 150,000 players by 2020.
Just about two days ago, a friend in Malaysia called me about some Chinese officials visited Malaysia to learn more about the game.
I think the Chinese is serious about doing something positive about the game, that's nice to hear. I've been playing social games organised by the expats the past 8 years in Shanghai, there are growing numbers of local female supporters and even players playing.
The expats are doing a great job introducing the game here. I love to see some "Chinaman Spin",and some technical terms in Chinese shouting around the fields and that's cool!!
