Zzzz ...

What a terribly forgettable day of Test cricket – and to think it came right after the rivetting stuff in Australia. If the rest of the series is like this, these matches will be the best advertisement and pre-publicity for IPL and T20. Part of me is already praying for an Indian collapse tomorrow and a follow on. Else, we’re headed for yet another draw.

To bat in these oppressively hot conditions is torture, to watch shoddy fielding is even more so. Since the BCCI is in such experimental mood these days – having taken to IPL with gusto – why can’t it decide that all Test matches in India between, say, March 15 and October 1 (or between the festivals of Holi and Diwali that traditionally frame the Indian summer), will be played under floodlights. The first ball could be bowled at 5.30 pm.

I know it sounds a silly idea, but it’s better than playing in Kanpur and Ahmedabad in April, as the Indians and South Africans will be doing.

On another note, thanks for the welcoming messages in response to the first post. deepak2 warns me I have my job cut out replacing Mukul. Deepak, I’m not competing; if I manage half Mukul’s success I’ll be happy. Actually, if I blog in a year half as good in terms of playing skills and drama as the one in which he did, I’ll be happy.

To more excitement, and to fewer days like this one!

It's a privalage to be one of the first one commenting on this new blog. Good luck with it Ashok and I hope you experience the same success and respone as Mukul did.

"a terribly forgettable day of test cricket." Hmm, the Proteas scored 540 runs against the supposedly much vaunted spin twins Kumble and Singh. I wonder if your sentiments would have been similar had the 540 been achieved by the beloved Sachin and Co.?

So as an Indian, you hope for your own team's Loss? Wow, you're a remarkable lot! Under a facade of apparent neutrality as a sports watcher, you seem to forget the role of a columnist to get All the Indian supporters here to root for their team. Think Kamran Abbasi and the ill feel spewed over by him and his bloggers to Indians, Hindus and Aussies...
Looks like we've another abjectly Lame Indian journalist who fails in arousing the patriotic fervour of hsi readers. Little surprise to see no contributions as yet on your blog! C'mon Mr.Malik, surely you're not another Mukul Kesavan, with his above board neutrality, who failed to ignite the reader, or even engage him at Any level....or are you?

To all test cricket lovers say a small prayer and may that test cricket's soul rest's in peace when chepauk produces a flat pitch like then we know that BCCI simply does not care about test cricket they arrange for 2 TEST Series and 7 ODI against england they put Chepauk pitch to sleep and want all of us to Watch IPL now there is no doubt where the priorities lie for lalit modi and co

The cricket buff inside him is a split personality. The newsperson is convinced of IPL's potential and that, inevitably, it will gobble up the rest of cricket; the romantic dreams of a glorious day at the Elysian Oval, with Trumper scoring a century before lunch – and batting on forever.
