Bouncy bouncy!

Posted by Amit Varma on 12/20/2005 in Moments

Such a fine moment it was. Towards the close of the third day of the Ahmedabad Test between India and Sri Lanka, Malinga Bandara beat Anil Kumble with a ball that bounced sharply, and Kumble gave the widest smile you'll ever see. It had joy, delight, pure happiness. "My turn next," he seemed to be thinking.

Fun would come.

A smile filled with sarcasm :) Just hope SL are actually thinking to achieve whatever target is set forth. Harbhajan and Kumble will be pit-vipers sensing the warm SL blood on the torrid Motera pitch. Watch out snake-charmers.

The match against Sri Lanka seems to be going India's way. But it would be interestting to see how Kumble and Harbhajan perform in Pakistan ?

That will be a good test for the two sides, both on the upward swing.

To some extent a rarity as well, and the reason being two fold. One, jumbo doesn't seem to relish batting a lot and secondly doesn't give away much with his expressions while batting atleast.

Although Bhajji and Kumble are likley to play a key role in Sri Lanka's second innings, Irfan and Agarkar would also be among the wickets. Somebody should tell Dhoni (or tell Greg Chappel to tell Dhoni) to stand more closer to the stumps for Irfan/agarkar. The ball is not carrying and he will miss out on CBWs

Very very well said Amit...I am sure bajji and anil must both be looking forward to bowling...Do u think a bowler like bajji and anil try to learn from other bowlers when they r on the crease with the willow instead of the leather...i often wonder that...just came across 23 yards so thought will post something...take care everyone

Who needs Fast bowlers when Harbhajan and Kumble are around? In fact, who needs Captains? Watching Spin is a lot more fun, though..

hi all
well, it has been a nightmare series for attapattu's men in india. i think sri lankans had their moments in this test series. they were unable to capitalise on good situations they were in due to lack of confidence. some horrid umpiring decisions didn't help too as we always associated with playing in india. hope lessons were learnt for the upcoming tours.

woooooo! spot on observation.he certainly was askin him 2 do it agin coz he knew wen dat ball wud b in his hands da lankans wud b tyrnin n screamin 2 play da ball.

Good observation! Anil Kumble has gone on to secure suceess for India and Harbhajan Singh contributed. As a matter of fact, all the Indian bowlers had been more disciplined and been among wickets. Kumble-Harbhajan combination on this type of wicket can be lethal against any team. Well done, Team India and well done Greg Chappell for the wonderful turn around!
